Sleep, connect, enjoy: At the castle hotel, we maintain a balance of working at the highest standard, but not being overly lavish in our design. We currently offer 15 rooms, all rated 4-stars.

Beside our rooms you will find 5 historical event spaces, the charming castle park with a stage, and a neighbouring chapel.

Restaurant and Oskars Castle Room

Handpicked products, excellent food and selected wines: In our Restaurant you will experience pleasure that is regionally rooted and can be experienced with all senses.

The Oskars is named after Oskar Hacker, the late owner of the castle who was no stranger to cultivating hospitality. Visitors are welcome to sit at their leisure and get some reading done with freshly brewed coffee and Austrian pastries. Or visit us in the evening, before or after dinner, for a nice beer or a fine glass of wine.

Set in a large historical landscape garden, you and your guests will be transported to a fairytale-like setting where you will be warmly taken care of by our staff. Various event venues, the chapel on the estate, upscale accommodation, and the finest cuisine will make your day unforgettable.

The castle hotel is located in the middle of the Franconian nature. To the North we have Thuringian Forest and Frankenwald, and to our South we have the metropolitan region of Nuremberg.

Situated in between these two locations, you can either enjoy a day of sport and leisure, art and culture, glittering parties or quiet hours. The choice is yours to make!

The best produce from the region is harvested with respect, and cooked with love – all without unnecessary frills and attitude, but with poise and clarity.

After years of experience in various top restaurants and bistros, travels abroad, and efficient training in our fields, we as a duo of sommelier and chef wanted to achieve our dream of serving simple and soulful food to the world. Schloss Hohenstein was our answer: a refuge for regional products with an Austrian twist, cultivated wine culture, and a venue for warm hospitality.
